Fortis Quay Development

Energetics live up to Beaumont Morgan’s high standards at Fortis Quay

Fortis Group is one of the fastest-growing development companies in the UK and prides itself on setting high standards for student and residential developments throughout the UK.

The four phases of their Fortis Quay development in Salford are designed around the iconic Salford Quays canal waterfront, making it a picturesque and peaceful place to live and a highly sought after area for young professionals. Naming each construction phase after a type of anchor was a tribute to the illustrious past of what was one of the UK’s most popular ports, despite its inland position. While the Herreshoff, Danforth, Grapnel and Northill phases exist as separate and distinct entities in their own right, together they will deliver 750 luxury high-rise apartments and offer future tenants the best in quayside living.

Energetics worked with Beaumont Morgan, the main contractor for the scheme, providing electrical connections, landlord supplies, secondary supplies and a full Building Network Operator (BNO) service to four high rise buildings.

The challenges

There are always space constraints to deal with when supplying electrical connections in high rise buildings. On this development, Energetics also had to resolve some issues around off-site works with the host network.

How we helped

Our experience in delivering electrical connections to high rise schemes came to the fore as the project developed. The addition of more apartments and extra storeys meant Energetics needed to amend our designs and recalculate to accommodate the additional load required. On receipt of design approval, Energetics ensured the secondary supplies complied with building regulations.

The results

Having had issues with communication with former suppliers, Fortis Group was
happy with the excellent service provided by Energetics.

Account Manager, Jamie Mullaney explains: “Fortis Group had previously had to wait for weeks for a response to queries, so having a local project manager was a great help. From project conception to delivery, we listened to their project goals and endeavoured to help them achieve these. Transparent, open communication throughout the project enabled us to successfully deliver the utility network within their budget and agreed timescales.”

“The design and installation teams at Energetics delivered on time and on budget managing all the changes along the way very efficiently and professionally.” Mechanical & Electrical Services Manager, Beaumont Morgan
