Gas Design Engineer

We are currently looking for a Permanent Gas Design Engineer to join our growing Design department at our Hamilton or Warrington Office. Could you power up your career with Energetics?

About the role:

As a Gas Design Engineer you will provide technical leadership and design approval on a range of gas infrastructure projects including domestic, residential, commercial and multiple-occupancy properties. You will also be responsible for application of legislation, regulation and industry standards across all designs.

Your responsibilities:

  • Approve all gas infra-structure designs for industrial, domestic and multiple-occupancy projects
  • Monitor industry developments and contribute to on-going design strategy within the department
  • Provide design approval for area of expertise, ensure that designs comply with current gas standards , regulation and legislation
  • Provide detailed technical support to Designers within area of specialism, ensuring designs achieve quality, safety and cost targets
  • Ensure excellent gas advisory support, through liaison with all project stakeholders 
  • Work as part of the Design Engineering team to develop, monitor and maintain a standardised approach to Gas design
  • Provide regular technical updates to the Design team, ensuring a consistent approach to design
  • Actively participate in industry associates, disseminating and implementing engineering recommendations
  • Undertake post-project reviews, identifying opportunities to improve project performance

What we are looking for

Essential:

  • Significant, demonstrable experience on a range of gas network design projects across industrial, domestic and multiple-occupancy constructions;
  • Detailed knowledge of GIRS standards and guidance;
  • Significant experience with IGEM / SR25;
  • Experience of using a range of IT systems including MS Word, MS Excel and MS Outlook;
  • Good knowledge of CAD software and current drawing conventions;
  • Working knowledge of GASWORKS and SNAP software;
  • Good knowledge of utilities market, including DNO / IDNO arrangements and policies;
  • Experience of project contracts, costing and post project analysis;
  • Knowledge of CDM regulations

Desirable:

  • Experience of providing technical leadership across a range of relevant projects
  • Experience of training / updating colleagues and helping colleagues progress through IGEM professional registration
  • Evidence of relevant CPD
  • Experience of developing design strategies and working within a relevant operational setting

Qualifications:

Essential:

  • Level 4 Qualification in Gas Design 
  • Incorporate Engineer Status recognised by IGEM (or expected to achieve within 6 months)
  • SHEA Gas

Desirable:

  • Chartered Engineer Status
  • Degree or equivalent in Engineering
  • Degree in approved subject
  • Appropriate Health and Safety Qualification
  • Safe Control of Operations 1,2,4 and 5
  • NRSWA Supervisor
