Adding Value Through Innovation at The Rock in Bury
Take one forward-thinking redevelopment of a rundown area of Bury town, add Energetics’ Connected Thinking and the result is an ingenious electrical infrastructure that saved on time, space and money.
The Challenge
When Laing O’Rourke first appointed Energetics to the forward-thinking redevelopment of The Rock, Bury, their most critical priority was timescales as a host of leading retailers and leisure providers were due to open. Add to this the challenge of working in a town centre with a hospital directly opposite the site, project management was key. But by applying our Connected Thinking, we were not only able to work with all stakeholders to deliver on time but save on valuable real estate too.
The Solution
Working closely with our client and their partners from day one, our Design & Build team challenged conventional approaches and instead devised a compact new primary substation. So compact, in fact, that it could be incorporated within the development footprint, adding to the overall aesthetic appeal and creating additional retail space.
We were also able to realise significant cost savings which, including those at the point of connection, amounted to approximately £1million, and ensured interim supply wherever it was needed – all whilst still delivering on time and in line with the customer’s build programme.
